Tips on Completing the Mission: |
-
The spires on this level are the kind that shoot lighting when they aren't
mined. At the beginning of the mission, you should raze the one that is
not in your ZOP and the one that is the furthest east in your kingdom. In
addition to these two spires, there are a few more you can't see due to
the fog that will protect your kingdom from early attacks. Don't worry
about the enemy mining them, as for some reason the AI doesn't get around
to it until midgame.
- For the early game, you should be guarding the rest of your spires,
because they can give you mana which you can use to create powerful
companies in the early going. Split your companies into two groups, one in
the north and one in the south. Make sure to engage any enemies you see.
Eventually the Ceyah will launch a major attack led by two companies of
Voids. However, by this time you should have 8-10 companies, and should
have no trouble dealing with the problem. After this attack, you can head
SE to take out the Ceyah settlement located on the other side of the
Spires. Be sure to send your engineers in first to mine the spires so your
companies can march into battle at full health.
- You are given enough settlements in the early game that you can build
some fairly powerful units to start. I went with Grenadiers/mages in the
early game, and as things progressed started swapping in archmages,
Zealots, and Avatars into the support slots. Build at least two banks to
keep your income flowing so you can keep building companies. If your
income is not between 50 and 60 in the first 5 minutes, you may be in for
some trouble.
- Ceyahdev is located at the midpoint of the SE edge of the map. When you
find the evil tileset, you know you are close. To take her down, I
recommend having a full compliment of 20 companies. Send 10 companies to
the SW edge of Ceyahdev's territory and send another 10 companies to the
NE edge (Clear out the resistance as you go). Once you are ready, you
should split your companies into 4 regiments; 2 groups of 6 and 2 groups
of 4. Your groups of 4 should contain no Kohan heroes. Send those two
regiments into battle first (one from each side). They will encounter the
companies guarding Ceyahdev's chasm, and Ceyahdev will also attack. Her
earthshock spell is quite powerful, and will probably wipe out most of
those initial 8 companies that go into battle. Follow up the initial
attack with your remaining 12 companies (6 from each side). Most of
Ceyahdev's guards will be destroyed, and you should be able to surround
her so that she can no longer cast spells, which should spell a quick
death for Ceyahdev.

Tips on Completing the Mission: |
-
Until late in the level, the only settlements available to you are two
Drauga enclaves and a Council village (located at the south end of a
Peninsula near your starting location). However, there are plenty of mines
available that are far enough away from Slaanri settlements, so you should
be able to build outposts at regular intervals if you need to rest without
having to worry about losing favor to the Slaanri.
- Late in the game, a Slaanri settlement will join your cause. Provided
you've killed most of the dragons on the map, you should be able to secure
an Alliance with the Slaanri at this point, which will yield the Slaan
Champion.
- There are very few Ceyah on this map. You'll be fighting dragons and
spiders for most of the mission.
- You should upgrade the Council village to a city as quickly as possible.
There are plenty of gold bonuses for destroying lairs on this map, so it
shouldn't be a problem. Your units should primarily be grenadiers, with
archmages/avatars/channelers in support.
- The temple you are looking for is located to the west of the Slaanri
village that will join your cause. It is guarded by two Ceyah outposts,
two Ceyah companies, and Simurgh. Simurgh is very similar to Ceyahdev, in
that he has some powerful spells but is easy to defeat once you get in
close and surround him. However, the support companies assisting Simurgh
are very weak, and you will face nothing stronger than Shadow Beast
Militia. You should only need 11 companies to defeat the Ceyah. Break them
up into 2 regiments of 6 and 5. Send the regiment of 5 ahead to scout and
find the temple and outposts, and have them retreat when Simurgh shows up.
Hopefully before he does, you can cause some damage to the other Ceyah
units. When all your companies have fully healed, send the 6 regiment in
first, followed by the 5. Some of your front line companies will probably
be seriously decimated and rout, but all your Kohan should survive the
mission intact.

I think the "Trap" that is referred to in the mission briefing is the two
Ceyah outposts located to the east of your starting position. Both are
well protected by several companies each. However, you should not have a
problem with the battles at either location. As an added bonus, you can
capture the two outposts, which means you don't have to retreat to your
staring point to rest.
- The outpost you are given at the beginning of the mission has three
component slots. Build a carpentry guild and a mage college to get your
gold flow positive. You are given a ton of gold on this mission, so you
shouldn't need to worry about anything like banks.
- The Stormport is well guarded, but is actually very easy to take. There
are 3 other Ceyah Settlements located on the map. Two are located very
close to the Stormport, while the other is far south. To begin, capture
the Ceyah settlement located in the south, and then capture the settlement
located to the southwest of Stormport. This should allow you to create
about 6 more companies. Create those 6 companies (Try and use the Slaanri
Champion, but Skeletons are ok too). Use these 6 companies to attack the
settlement that is just to the east of Stormport, at the south edge of the
mountains. Once it has been captured, All the companies guarding Stormport
will leave their fortified positions and move in to reclaim it. This will
allow you to use your original 6 companies to simply waltz in from the
other direction, and only have to worry about defeating the Stormport
militia to take the city. I'd recommend not attaching any Kohan to the 6
companies you create, because there is a good chance your companies will
be depleted when the Ceyah attack, and you will probably not be able to
retreat before they are killed.

Tips on Completing the Mission: |
-
This mission is very, very, tough, and is considerably more difficult than
anything that came before it. That being said, if you can somehow get
through the first 5 minutes relatively unscathed, you shouldn't have any
problem with the rest of the mission.
- The initial Ceyah army will be tough to beat, as they are commanded by
every single Ceyah Kohan you've previously defeated, as well as a few new
faces. Several of the Ceyah companies also consist of some of the stronger
units in the game, including void beasts, elite arches, and elite guards.
To make matters worse, Ceyahdev and Simurgh are also roaming the map, and
could attack you at any time.
- Your best bet is to just sit tight at the beginning of the mission, and
wait for the Ceyah to come to you. Charging head on into battle is not
advised, as the Ceyah will be able to flank you and quickly overwhelm you.
Build a second engineering company and start building extra fortresses to
help with the defense of your base. Don't forget that the initial
fortresses you start out with have 3 component slots, which you can use to
build libraries and banks to get your economy going. The Ceyah will
primarily be coming down the western edge of the map, so concentrate your
forces there. Try your best to flank the companies and take out the mages
supporting the front line, as all the companies have at least one
spellcaster that can summon units. The summoned units can be a pain when
you are trying to concentrate your attacks on the stronger units. With any
luck, you won't have to face Ceyahdev or Simurgh, but again you won't have
much control as to when you run into them.
- You should stick to building companies of Elite units in this mission,
supported by the stronger spellcasters (Avatars, Archmages, etc). There
are plenty of Spires and Khaldunite fields on the map to support these
units, but in the beginning while you are still defending your base you
can stick to grenadiers to prevent your economy from tanking.
- You'll know you've smashed the Ceyah army once you start to see weaker
units appear and attacks start to become less frequent. You can then start
to slowly move north and take out the Ceyah defenses. Ahriman's Citadel is
well protected by 3 companies of void beasts and several shadow lords, but
if you've managed to take out the rest of the Ceyah settlements and
outposts you should be able to launch an all out assault with about 15
companies and have no problem destroying the citadel.
- As previously mentioned, the first five minutes or so are probably the
toughest to survive. You will probably have to restart several times, and
even once you do get it right you'll probably have lost one or two
companies as well as several Kohan. Just keep plugging away at it, and
eventually you'll get it right.
