Ceyah Strategies

[Wyldrage's Tactics] [Wyldrage's Tactics-Units] [Orional's Tactics]

Orional's Tactics: Ceyah

INTRODUCTION

Ceyah is a faction that is hard to master. but those that do become formidable foes. Ceyah CANNOT be played like the mareten factions and I believe this is what makes people shy away from them. Ill break it down into a couple categories. feel free to add after me if you think I have forgotten anything

STRENGTHS

Strengths: upkeep-less units (shadeling, and zombie), 20% stronger buildings (making them harder to wipe out), an extra company slot (enabling 2 companies per village, they have the cheapest units. Mana forge (allows you to turn iron into mana)

WEAKNESSES

Weaknesses: Units are weaker than the other factions, infantry (skeletons) are vulnerable to magic, In a straight economy war the council and nationalist factions will have the advantage, Battle Priest from the royalist faction (this guy will mow your undead troops down)

GAME PLAY

Game play: Use those upkeep-less units! If you are in team play then your job is to send those shades out and find the enemy. If you locate where your enemy is set-up then that is half the battle because it gives the enemy a psychological defeat by making them wonder where you are going to hit them first
--
4 companies of shades is ideal for taking indies. you can do it with 3 but with just one more company you don't have the extra downtime of healing. And meanwhile your economy is still going strong.
--
Zombies make excellent defensive units while you build up your more powerful units. If you get scouted and know that you will be attacked set these fodder troops up and they will slow down the enemy significantly.
--
Your troops are meant to be wasted. if you can keep them alive then that's great but you are not the power force (until you get voids) of the gameplay board. You are the one that sends hordes of troops (because they are cheap) at your enemy to slow them down, flank, and become a general nuisance.
--
You have some of the best support units in the game. The shadow priest is absolutely phenomenal, the dreadlord will wipe the smile off anyone's face, the wraith is a cheap damage dealer/router, and the prophet, en-masse, can drop your opponents fast.
--
when with other mareten factions a good combo to use is a couple companies of bone bows with shadow priests. Also if you have the iron throw in a couple skeleton infantry with them. With the shadowpriest feel free to add prophet or wraith support with them for a little help in the damage. With the skeleton infantry throw in a dreadlord to up their attack. Also when you have all of these companies together its not a bad Idea to throw a necromancer in. Just one for the area effect lethargy.
--
When going it alone the above company combo will work fine just make sure they cannot get to your archers. Also remember when going against mareten (they have powerful magic support) you need to flank these to give your support a chance to rip through their infantry. ( I know that sounds obvious but you'd be surprised how many people do not do it)
--
Shadow beasts: these guys are quick and I've seen them used where the opponent made lots of mana forges along with mage colleges to support two regiments of these. This sounds expensive but with a shadowbeast company only costing 26 gold it evens out in the long run and you have a "MOB" that is really hard to stop.
--
Voids: Powerful when just by themselves (though not to the extent of cavaliers). When used just by themselves they are quick and are able to strike behind the lines diverting the enemy's attention.
You can also put them with support (I've found that shadow priest with a dreadlord is incredibly powerful) However remember that you are taking a vital part of them away and that is their speed. BUT there is nothing wrong with this if you are facing one large army in a crucial spot.

CONCLUSION

Well as stated this is a tactics thread (not a strategy, so I did not go into towns their components and build strategies) I discussed units and their uses. The main part of using a Ceyah is remembering that your troops are expendable. remember for 120 gold you can have a nice little shadeling force to hit an enemy where his forces are not. Hope this helps and I probably forgot some things that I will edit out later. If you have any additions feel free to post below. As usual anyone is welcome in a FM game and feel free to ask any questions of us =).
