INTRODUCTION

Đarkwars was designed with a "bigger" game in mind. I wanted to push the limits of the Kohan engine, so it is recommended that the host of Darkwar have a decent system and a better-than-56k connection.

Right now there are 2-3 games on at peak hours. Hopefully, this will change. Understand that people are eco-ing harder then normal so there will be an abundance of new and "uber" units which would not really show up as much in normal competitive play.

There are roughly NOW over 1000 modifications, 193++ versions, and over 20+ new units. All KohAn have been adjusted to increase their chances of survival. Darkwars is a year in the making and has been tested in 2 Phases for balancing. Players will find that the architecture of the game is MUCH more in-depth than it appears. Everything has many counters, not just one.

CEYAH - King Hasanko

Hasanko quickly moved up the ranks of the Shadow, persuading any would-be opposers with his pet Hell Hounds. Hasanko knew that he would need army to dethrone Amon to control the Ceyah, so he cast a mighty spell that created a "gate" to the Shadow world. After he gathered the army he needed, he let loose his might upon Khaldun and sent Amon back to the Shadow world...back to Hell!
Years later, Amon revisited the wound upon time and space and broke the "gate" open again. Hasanko could not stop Amon and his new army, so he summoned his most evil creations.....Gatekeepers. They were tortured souls of wraiths, thousands cast into one body! Their sole purpose was to destroy anything that crept from the "gate" of the Shadow world, since Hasanko could no longer seal it.

NATIONALISTS - Queen Sofiya

The first of the 3 factions to be hit by Hasanko's army were the Nationalist. Many Nationalists were tortured in the most cruel of ways during that invasion. Hasanko's army killed anything living on that side of Khaldun. The Royalist, opposed to some of the Nationalist's practices, did nothing to help them. The council ruled by their first wizard King Azurithus, did not even look their way. Quickly, the land died and soon the Nationalist cities were invaded. Hasanko and his army would soon see the doorstep of the council's villages. As his army infected the land, many ran to the royalist and enlisted into the clergy. Others fled to the forests.

Years into his campaign and nearly all of the Nationalist territory conquered, Hasanko faced an attack in a rear "corner" of his territories. In a few months time, he lost many of villages that he had conquered. Nationalists that fled the invasion went deep into the forest and met their kin who practiced witchcraft and were banished from their society. As a result these people learned the arts and ways of witches and gathered armies from all over. Eventually, they were united by the one so named Sofiya, Queen of the Witches. Sofiya vowed revenge on Dylan and Hasanko. She hated Dylan for refusing help to her dying people. She hated Hasanko for the death of her village and her family. Hasanko knew that he would need to return to his lands before his army was trapped. So he burned the remaining cities and fled back.......

COUNCIL - King Azurithus

As the schools of magic grew in size and number, magicians and wizards become the dominate party in political matters throughout the Council Kingdom. On many occasions the wizards, more often than the mages, saved the council Kingdom. Of these Wizards, Azurithus Twin Brother of Adellon, was elected King of the Council when their warrior King died.

Azurithus has now encouraged more schools of wizardry and warfare. Some say his plans are to unite the 3 factions under one banner....by way of force.

ROYALISTS - King Dylan

……and so the story continues on the north-eastern mountains of Khaldun rest the once peaceful Royalist. For years there was massive flooding of their territories by those seeking to enter the clergy. Rank structures were required and so came Bishops to watch over cities and Bishops to watch over provinces. The clergy came from provinces all over, and from other lands to pay homage to the priest King Dylan.

Dylan was given the control over all the lands of the Royalist by Darius, whom could no longer rule from years of battling the Shadow, his mind was torn apart nearly into madness. Dylan, a brutal man, focused Darius’s madness and rage by sending him into battle heavy areas, where Darius would enter “fits” of rage and continue fighting. Darius was led to believe that these were the most peaceful places, but that was not the case.

Dylan gained in strength and power as he gained vassals. He erected monumental churches and enlisted a stronger, more brutal clerical force. He wanted nothing to do with the Nationalist “misfits”, as we would call them. He hated the Council for their arrogance and pledged to rid the world of anything from hell. He encouraged men to rise above normal skill and would bestow upon them blessing to give them advantage in battle. These men were renowned throughout the lands as Battle Lords. Dylan called them his Warlords, men who led the battles in the name of the church.
