In Kohan, a unit's attack speed is determined by two factors. The
first is
how long its attack animation takes. This is equal to 1 second for all
units
except the Disciple. I'll discuss them later. It is the only exception.
The
other factor is the unit's reload time. This is usually 0.5 for melee
units.
These units are considered to have 100% attack speed, which means a
total
attack time of 1.5 seconds.
To find a unit's attack speed, take the base attack speed (100%) which
is
1.5, and divide it by 1 plus the reload time. Modifiers to attack speed
only
effect reload time, so multiply them by the reload time before you add
it.
Once again, that formula is:
attack speed = 1.5 / (1 + reload time * modifiers)
Multiply this by 100 to get the percent. Using this, the values for
unit's
reload times start to make sense:
Reload Time |
Attack Speed |
----------- |
------------ |
0.0
|
150% |
0.2 |
125% |
0.5 |
100% |
1.0 |
75% |
1.5 |
60% |
2.0 |
50% |
3.0 |
37% |
3.5 |
33% |
4.0 |
30% |
5.0 |
25% |
Now, the Disciple's animation takes 1.2 seconds. So the formula for
them
looks like:
attack speed = 1.5 / (1.2 + reload time * modifiers)
That is the only unit that I know of that has an animation different
than
one second.
