Flexible Support Units Mod v0.9 ------------------------------- Summary ------- -allow support troops to be added to front and flank positions in a company -new circle company layout -new banner icons (for healer, magic and summoner companies) Purpose ------- To free the slot restrictions for support units in company, thus allowing players to make up their own design company, using support units in front and flank positions. No other changes are made to the units themselves. Known issues ------------ -Captains for faction special-unit-based front-line companies (Prophet, Wizard, Zealot, Paladin) For such companies, the captain is chosen to be the same race as the unit by default (undead for prophet, human for the rest) as the actual nation differs from city to city. If the default captain cannot be recruited, simply replace it subsequently in the company customization interface. Note that Fallen special unit is a captain and thus not changed by this mod. -Play balance As I do not want to change the unit stats themselves, balance may have to come in the form of reducing the number of units in a company. However, this will require a lot of play-testing which cannot be done by one person. Some interesting emergent play balance issues (which are unplanned) are company costs and morale. E.g. WarMage company, although packing quite a punch, will sap a lot of mana resource and has low morale, and can be broken very easily in melee. -Non-combat front-lines There are some non-combat units (such as healers of each race) which may not be suitable for the front-line, but I've included them just in case somebody can come up with interesting use. -Company Audio Acknowledgements As there are no audio acknowledgement files for the support units, I try to find appropriate replacements from the existing audio files. Still, some may not be totally suitable. Plus, a ring of spellcasters surrounding a spell-casting Kohan looks kinda nice :)
